NEED to know
YES! You cannot legally get married in the State of New Mexico without a signed marriage license.
The State of New Mexico does not require a waiting period after obtaining a marriage license, so if scheduling permits, you’re welcome to get married the same day you received your license.
If you get a marriage license in Texas, there is a 72-hour waiting period after obtaining your marriage license.

The State of New Mexico requires that 2 witnesses (not including the couple or officiant) to be present to sign the marriage license. If you cannot or do not want to provide witnesses, we can provide them for you for an additional $25/witness.
The State of Texas does not require any witnesses to be present to sign the marriage license.
We ask that witnesses be at least 14 years or older to sign the marriage license.
A marriage license in the State of New Mexico is $55. A marriage license in the State of Texas is $76.
Both parties who plan to get married MUST be present when obtaining a marriage license for the State of New Mexico. You also need to make sure you have legal, up-to-date ID’s with you.
Say I Do officiants are ordained to officiate weddings nationwide. We typically officiate weddings in Curry, Roosevelt and Chaves County in New Mexico and Parmer County in Texas.
Note: If you are planning on getting married in Texas, no witnesses are required, but we do charge travel expenses for anywhere outside Clovis (or the location of our officiant).
